  • LITERATURE EVANGELISM DEPARTMENT (Return)

The Literature Evangelism leader and his co-workers have a great responsibility to preach the gospel especially to the unentered corners of the earth. In first place is the recruiting, training, and motivation of workers who are ready to do pioneering work.

These messengers of God, of whom the prophet Isaiah speaks, "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye,... for the Lord hath comforted His people, He hath redeemed Jerusalem" (Isaiah 52:7-9), do a work of the first rank in preaching the last warning message. They are the forerunners of the Bible workers and ministers. They should be given support and the necessary understanding.

All literature evangelism leaders in the unions and fields who recognize the importance of their work and God's message should keep themselves well trained so they are in a position to recruit new laborers, educate them, and integrate them into the work.

In addition, the literature evangelists should not forget that they are representatives of the publishing houses. Their counsel should also be sought by the Publishing Department and the publishing houses, because they have much practical experience in working with the public.

Literature evangelism was and is the heart of the Advent movement. In the Reform Movement as well, everything should be done so this branch may be a blessing to the church and also to mankind.

    This department is responsible to:

    (1) See that an abundance of literature is available which is adapted to the present conditions and contains our entire message. What do we understand as the "entire message"? The entire message contains God's plan of redemption, in which the core truth of Christ and the commandments, as well as health reform, is contained.

    (2) Prepare a plan of work and supervise the plans made by unions and fields so their canvassing work is fruitful.

    (3) Advise the General Conference Publishing Department, as well as the union and field publishing houses, concerning literature needed for successful canvassing work.

    (4) Formulate guidelines for book evangelism, taking into consideration the current customs in the different countries of the earth and how evangelism can be done
