WORLD CHURCH

  • GENERAL CONFERENCE COMMITTEE (Return)

    The next lower level of organization after the General Conference delegates in session is the General Conference Committee. It is an executive and administrative body which carries out the decisions of the delegates and manages the ongoing activities of the worldwide work. Its farreaching responsibility is to guide all branches of the organization.

    Its task is to promote the spread of the gospel around the world through coordination with each organizational branch, financial support, and specific activities. Its functions include:

    (1) Watching over the purity of the doctrine so that the church's teachings and writings are in harmony with law and testimony in all unions and fields and the organization is well represented everywhere;

    (2) Leading and supervising the election of the officers in the unions and fields, as well as their departments, at the proper time;

    (3) Developing and implementing its working plan;

    (4) Supervising the General Conference departments and coordinating the supervision of the unions and fields to further the proper development of the work;

    (5) Implementing the spread of the message by entering new territories and/or entrusting them to neighboring unions or fields;

    (6) Furthering the education of students in missionary schools and seminars with the objective to prepare ministers and gospel workers for leadership and service, as well as promotion of the health work;

    (7) Carefully managing the property and sacred funds entrusted to it, as goods of the Lord, for His honor and the salvation of souls.
