The Good Samaritan

The world is full of people who need compassion and help-ours and yours. We are also sure that many people are moved to compassion when they hear of, read about, or see drought, famine, epidemic, war, or natural disaster that leaves thousands of children without parents, women without husbands, men without wives to raise their children, and families without shelter. However, frequently we don't have enough time to help personally or we don't know how to stretch out a merciful hand to relieve suffering.
The good Samaritan was not able to stay longer and personally care for the wounded man at the inn; he had his own responsibilities to take care of. But he could delegate the work to the innkeeper and provide him with the means to do so; and he also planned to contribute not just that one time but as many times as necessary.
This is an appeal for your love for others to be expressed in acts of mercy, a call to make it a principle regularly to help the needy, making it ! possible for those who suffer from lack of food to receive bread, for the naked to be clothed, for the homeless to be sheltered, and for the sick to receive medical treatment. Surely the God of love and mercy will reward you with material and spiritual blessings from His great fountain of abundance so that you can continue to give.
Let the Lord move our hearts and make each one of us a good Samaritan.

What is The Samaritan's Good Work?

This is a branch of the International Missionary Society whose mission is to put into practice the advice of the Lord Jesus to "Go and do thou likewise" (what the good Samaritan in the parable did) within the countries where the organization is represented.
From its very beginning in the early 1900s, a foundation principle of the International Missionary Society has been to assist the needy. However, the increase in requests for help made it necessary to work in a more organized fashion in this specialized area, and that is why the Good Samaritan branch was formed in 1991.
When we began looking for contributors among the organization's members, we found a generous response. At the same time, we looked for people who would voluntarily represent the Good Samaritan in the developing countries and inform us about the most urgent needs which came to their attention. Whenever we give help, we ask the recipient to acknowledge receiving the money by writing a letter; that l! etter is later sent to the contributor, thus informing him of how his contribution was used.
We work in cooperation with the Dorcas Department, which receives contributions of clothing and eyeglasses and ships them to many countries.
Over time, this work has expanded, and this is very good, for God's word says: "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men,." Galatians 6:10. However, our opportunities depend on your generous contributions.
Our mission is not simply to provide help to the sick by obtaining medical care for them and meeting their basic needs but also to give seminars, provide teaching aids, and if possible instruct people on how to live healthfully through good practices of nutrition, hygiene, ethics, home economy, preventive medicine, first aid, and natural healing methods.
