“Highways” IN TRANSITION

“Highways” is in transition. New project Requests are being examined more closely than before to see if the submitting fields and unions understand the management principles presented in the new “Highways” Request forms (see the article in the May-June 1999 issue of The Sabbath Watchman) and are beginning to implement them. Early indications are that much more education is needed. Furthermore, communication giving instruction by letter is very slow.

It is logical that in countries with unstable economies–and unfortunately this is becoming the case in more and more places around the world–the local organization is having increasing financial difficulties, especially where the society has been living on foreign credit for a long time. We pray for wisdom to make plans which God can bless. To take care of the most urgent financial needs is necessary, but means are limited and will become more so as the last prophecies are fulfilled. Therefore, education in principles of management needs to be done now so the fields and unions can be strong, even if their countries’ economies become weaker. God is not unmerciful; He asks us to follow His ways and trust that He will intervene for us. We are confident that He will bless everyone today who follows His principles, as He has done down through the ages.

The “Highways” Committee will be working closely with the Foreign Missions Program to help coordinate efforts to train people who can go and teach. We solicit your interest, prayers, expertise, and financial assistance not just for the completion of “Highways” projects but for wisdom and divine guidance.

–Rudi Guldemeester, Holland, “Highways” Director
