Results of Generosity in “Highways”
We are very thankful to the Lord for touching your hearts and inspiring you to share your blessings to help others who have to live under difficult circumstances. Your gifts are greatly appreciated.
We are gratified with the response to the project to provide bicycles for workers in the South Central African Union, which is composed of four countries–Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique and Angola. This project was completed in a short period of time. But that was not all. Additional funds were received after the goal of US $2,700 for the project was reached.
This is a wonderful development, and so we want to present another similar project. Thus, the General Conference Finance Committee has submitted a Request to the “Highways” Committee for another project so we can obtain more bicycles in places were they are needed. Bicycles are a very useful means of transportation; without them, travel is by foot. In many countries around the world, workers in the Lord’s vineyard can speed up the spread of the gospel if they have bicycles. The project has been approved in the amount of US $5,000, which will allow us to distribute another 50 bicycles. May the Lord give us wisdom to find ways to fund this project as soon as possible. We encourage especially those who have never contributed to “Highways” to help to complete this project or others that have been on the “Highways” List for quite some time.
A few weeks ago, I traveled to Burundi to help the Field Committee obtain a headquarters in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi. This country is still suffering from the war that has gripped this country for long time. The government requires an organization such as ours to have an office in the capital city so that they know that it is a real church as well as where they can contact the society. Praise the Lord that this is now in process, and with His help we will soon be able to lay the cornerstone for a headquarters building and small chapel. This project, which appeared for the first time in the last issue of The Sabbath Watchman, also needs your attention.
Also, when I was in Burundi, Brother Stephen Ngoboka, from the Rwandan Field, presented me with a letter which read, in part: “We thank all who have helped in different ways for the advancement of God’s work in the Rwandan Field by Sabbath Watchman magazines, Sabbath School Lessons, and other literature.
“Especially we wish to give our thanks for the ‘Highways’ project amounting to US $3,600, which has enabled us to buy a piece of land [5,940 square meters] for a headquarters. On this land there is also a building (6 x 10 meters), which needs repair and roofing so it may be suitable for the meeting on Sabbath. This land will also be a great blessing to build a school, etc., for our Field, which has increased to a number of 454 members. We also have a large number of interested souls who accepted the Reformation message and decided to stand on the side of the Lord, ready to make a covenant with Him by baptism.
“May God bless all who contributed to help the Field of Rwanda. Our request is that you remember in prayer the work of God in this country.”
May God richly bless all who are working with their talents of time, means, and influence along the highways and hedges of this world.
