REPORT FROM PERU
The strong earthquake that shook Peru left a death toll of more than 500 people, up to the present day, according to the fire brigade, while the Department of Civil Defence estimates that 437 people died and they fear that this number may increase due to the great damage caused in these southern cities where rescuing teams are looking for survivors.
Roberto Ognio, commander in chief of the fire brigade, said that according to the reports they have received, there are between 500 and 510 victims in the area affected by the earthquake. “The number has increased to 500 or 510 and there are more than 1.600 people badly injured.”, said the person responsible for the fire brigade. “People died because their houses collapsed. There are many corpses in the street”, added the commander in chief.

In this area where the disaster occurred, there are families, brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering and living out in the open. Many houses and churches were destroyed
We thank all brothers and sisters who have already helped and will continue helping those who are suffering. We know whatever we do is for our Lord Jesus Christ.
Psalm 46
God [is] our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
[Though] the waters thereof roar [and] be troubled, [though] the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
[There is] a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy [place] of the tabernacles of the most High.
God [is] in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, [and that] right early.
The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
The Lord of hosts [is] with us; the God of Jacob [is] our refuge. Selah.
Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth.
He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
Be still, and know that I [am] God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
The Lord of hosts [is] with us; the God of Jacob [is] our refuge. Selah.

COMMUNIQUE
The Peruvian Union expresses her gratitude for all the calls of solidarity and the concern regarding the sad events in our country due to the earthquake that happened on Wednesday 15 August.
Due to the fact that there is no possible communication with the affected area, we do not know whether among the dead there are any of our members. Unofficially, we know that some churches and the houses of some of our members have collapsed therefore we suspect there may victims among them. Up to the present, the number of victims has increased to 500, but the rescuing work is not yet over..
This afternoon, a team is leaving the headquarters in Lima and travelling to that area carrying help for the affected people. If you willingly want to join this campaign of support, you can send your donation to the following bank accounts:
