Dr. Hugo A. Lopez – specialist in the Mayr cure and the director of the health house and Dr. Ferdinand Drofenik – honorary collaborator related to the cure house for more than 40 years and a personal student of Dr. F.X. Mayr.
The Elim cure house is found in the southern area of Hunsrucks, in the climatic place of Nonnweiler, approximately between the cities of Trier and Saarbrucken in Germany.

It is located in a peaceful lateral street of Nonnweiler, on the shores of the channels of the Prims River. You can travel by foot to the center of the town, to the diligent Kneipp, or you can travel on the idyllic valleys of Kerb, all of which are very close to the cure house. The closeness of the places mentioned above, complement, to a certain extent, the sanitary offer of the cure house. Considering a human being as a whole, and returning to natural methods, gives a cure and relief of the physical pains and, as a result, revitalizes of the soul.

We run a small sanatorium with a medical staff composed of a doctor, medical assistants, chiropractors, therapists, and masseuses.

For more than 40 years, the Elim sanatorium offers treatments in the field of an intensive diet, in accordance with Dr. F.X. Mayr and physiotherapeutic treatments.

We offer a homely atmosphere through daily medical contact with our patients. The Elim sanatorium is a Christian institution where the possibility to assist to services, and having a religious service, exists.

CLEANSING AND REGENERATION OF THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

Intensive Diet and Fasting by Dr. F.X.Mayr

At the beginning of the last century, the great medical naturist Dr. Franz Xaver Mayr (1875-1965) discovered the primordial function of the digestive apparatus. When the digestive organs present some insufficient function, health is physically and spiritually affected. “The toxicities in the intestine are responsible for man to be sick, to grow old, and to lose his beauty.” Based on this knowledge, he developed the natural method, that bears his name, and that activates the corporal strengths necessary for the regeneration of the body. It is based on the experience that many sicknesses and disorders have their origin in the digestive apparatus.
Health can only be recovered if a person is offered the possibility of relief: the relief, for example, should also be applied to individual systems, like the digestive system. The strictest relief is fasting; however, after a medical analysis, the doctor, along with the patient, will make a decision about how the treatment will be applied. Through healing, the organism has the possibility to purify itself, in other words to detoxify, to free itself from acidity, and regenerate itself. This can be achieved by using a saline substance (English salt, in powder), a substitution for the deficiencies of vitamins and minerals, and abdominal massages, in accordance to the method of Dr. F.X. Mayr. The abdominal massage consists of respiratory gymnastics, along with a joint lymphatic and venous cleansing. This will be done many times per week (5-6 times). Furthermore, during the healing process, there are instructions over a nutritious diet and healthy lifestyles that contribute to the subsequent recuperation. This treatment reestablishes health to the digestive system and helps to change the lifestyle and nutritious habits, with the purpose to restore health and vitality.

VEGETARIAN KITCHEN

The kitchen in our institution is vegetarian and vegan. We select whole-grain and biological products. The patients can also obtain practical and theoretical knowledge and be motivated to change their nutritious habits. A diet, lacking proteins of animal origin is provided and is necessary (for example in case of allergies) or if the patient desires it. Our culinary equipment allows the possibility to know a vegetarian kitchen in a practical way.

Of course, nicotine and alcohol are not used in the Elim sanatorium. It is also easier to stop smoking, since the person changes, like when a person has a severe cold.

ENJOY NATURE AND THE PEACE OF NONNWEILER

Nonnweiler/Saar is located in the middle of forests, in a very peaceful place, in the idyllic region of the Prims River, far from the restlessness of the big highways.

The Saarland region is very interesting and beautiful. You will have the opportunity to experience it during your stay. The forests in this region are known as the best place to rest. Nonnweiler offers a very healthy climate, for it is 450 meters high in the proximity of a mountain range. This place offers the visitor a scenery of mountains, vast forests of trees with deciduous, coniferous, and almost virgin leaves. There are ponds and lakes that add to Nonnweiler’s beauty. Nature lovers can enjoy the beauty and peace of these surroundings, with the advantage to have a mountainous climate and clean air.

There are possibilities to make trips through the plains of countless and lovely valleys, without the need of much effort. You will have the experience to find yourself in a wooded place away from industries and noise.
From the Peterberg observatory, which is not that far in distance, you can enjoy a completely different view of observing space. In a few minutes, a modern funicular (railway) transports you to the peak of a mountain.

LONG WALKS

Long walks are an important part of life in Nonnweiler; you can find an extensive path chain close to the Elim sanatorium.An interesting trip is going to the PrimsRiver, where you have the possibility to do your cold-water treatments (Kneipp).In the forest, there is a swimming pool that can be used, at the disposal of the passerby, to submerge your hands and your feet.You can also do a complete turn on the Nonnweiler dam, (12 km), walking on the completely flat terrain, where you can see beautiful views, or you can do the trip on a bicycle.The Celtic wall in Otzenhausen, with archeological remains, can become a long-walking goal, since you can get there without much effort

SPORTS

For patients inclined towards sports, the PeterbergMountain offers a beautiful view and, if you want more excitement, you can descend to the valley in a lift.There is a swimming pool in the proximities of the Elim sanatorium that has hot water on Wednesdays.It is not necessary to feel deprived of participating in tennis matches, for the Nonnweiler tennis club is at your disposal.
