Education

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge.”Proverbs 1:7.

“In the highest sense the work of education and the work of redemption are one, for in education, as in redemption, ‘other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.’”Education, p. 30.

“To bring man back into harmony with God, so to elevate and ennoble his moral nature that he may again reflect the image of the Creator, is the great purpose of all the education and discipline of life.”Counsels to Parents, Teachers, and Students, p. 49.

The Lord has the purpose of educating His people in the principles of heaven through specific institutes that teach the truth, that prepare and educate ministers for heaven, to lead souls to the feet of Jesus, for the Holy Scriptures tell us:“And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come’. And let him that heareth say, ‘Come’. Revelation 22:17. Heaven invites humanity, and the Church does this too, for it is the color-sergeant of the message of salvation:“…the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. ”1 Timothy 3:15.Since the divine object is that the church converts in an educative agent among its members, and among the inhabitants of this world, institutions should be founded so it can accomplish this work. We will present some institutions in a panoramic, worldwide view.

“The home is the child's first school… Parents are to seek God earnestly and obey Him implicitly, and they are to require obedience from their children… and then secure their future safety by sending them to [church] school and Sabbath school. ”This Day With God, p. 293.

“Good service can be done by teaching the people how to prepare healthful food. This line of work is as essential as any that can be taken up. School for Workers

“Every church should be a training school for Christian workers. Its members should be taught how to give Bible readings, how to conduct and teach Sabbath-school classes, how best to help the poor and to care for the sick, how to work for the unconverted. Editorial Schools

“There is much to be done in the way of establishing centers for our work in new fields. Missionary printing offices should be established in many places. In connection with our mission schools there should be facilities for printing and for training workers in this line. Where there are in training persons of various nationalities, speaking different languages, each should learn to print in his own tongue, also to translate into that tongue from the English. And while he is learning English, he should be teaching his language to such English-speaking students as may need to acquire it. Thus some of the foreign-born students might defray the expense of their education, and workers might be prepared to give valuable help in missionary enterprises. ”Testimonies for the Church, vol. 7, p. 169.

Kindergartens

The world is doing a great work for the children through kindergartens. In places where they have institutions, and both parents are employed, they would gladly send children to a kindergarten. I have been convinced that in many of our churches a kindergarten properly conducted for a few hours a day, would be a great blessing. ”Selected Messages, book 3, p. 223.

Orphanages

“The design of an orphans' home should be not merely to provide the children with food and clothing, but to place them under the care of Christian teachers who will educate them in the knowledge of God and His Son. Those who work in this line should be men and women who are largehearted and inspired with enthusiasm at the cross of Calvary. They should be men and women who are cultured and self-sacrificing, who will work as Christ worked, for the cause of God and the cause of humanity. ”Testimonies for the Church, vol. 6, p. 287.

children’s Missionary Training

“The management and instruction of children is the noblest missionary work that any man or woman can under take. By the proper use of objects the lessons should be made very plain, that their minds may be led from nature up to nature's God. We must have in our schools those who possess the tact and skill to carry forward this line of work, thus sowing seeds of truth. The great day of God alone can reveal the good this work will do. ”Testimonies for the Church, vol. 6, p. 205.

“But here is a work that must be done for the families, and for the children that are as old as seven years and eight years and nine years. We should have a lower department, that is a second department, where these children could be instructed. They will learn in school that which they frequently do not learn out of school, except by association. ”Selected Messages, book 3, p. 216.

Missionary Boarding School

“Our school homes have been established that our youth may not be left to drift hither and thither, and be exposed to the evil influences which everywhere abound; but that, as far as possible, a home atmosphere may be provided that they may be preserved from temptations to immorality and be led to Jesus. Colporteur School

“I have had special light in regard to the canvassing work, and the impression and burden does not leave me. This work is a means of education. It is an excellent school for those who are qualifying themselves to enter the ministry. Those who take up this work as they should place themselves where they learn of Christ and follow His example. Vocal and Instrumental Teaching

“I am glad that a musical element has been brought into the… school. In every school, instruction in singing is greatly needed. There should be much more interest in voice culture than is now generally manifested. Students who have learned to sing sweet gospel songs with melody and distinctness, can do much good as singing evangelists. They will find many opportunities to use the talent that God has given them, carrying melody and sunshine into many lonely places darkened by sin and sorrow and affliction, singing to those who seldom have church privileges.
